Electric Vehicle Charging Budget & Reimbursements
Managing your electric vehicle (EV) charging expenses is now simpler with our flexible budgeting and reimbursement methods. Choose the option that best fits your charging habits:
Per Kilometre method
This method simplifies your budget by calculating a set amount based on all the kilometres you drive. Here’s how it works:
Budget allocation
A budget of 5.00 cents per kilometre travelled will be allocated, whether you charge your EV at home or outside the home. The budget will be calculated based on the kilometre limit in your lease. For example, with a 48-month lease and a 60,000 km limit, your annual budget will be $750.00 (calculated as (60,000 / 48) \times 12 \times $0.05 = $750.00) or $62.50 per month. This budget is set above the current Australian Taxation Office (ATO) home charging rate of 4.2 cents per kilometre to accommodate potential future increases.
The budget includes charging from the start of your lease.
Quarterly declarations
Every quarter (March, June, September, and December), you'll be asked for an odometer reading through an online declaration. You will be asked to confirm number of points including that your reimbursement request for EV charging costs complies with the ATO Practical Compliance Guideline 2024/2.
Reimbursements
Based on the kilometres travelled since your last odometer reading provided to ORIX, reimbursements will be processed at the ATO’s current home charging rate of 4.2 cents per kilometre.
Final declaration
At the end of your lease, a final online declaration will be sent to you, prior to budget reconciliation.
Note: External charging expenses, such as charging costs incurred at a public EV charger, cannot be claimed under this method.
By Receipt method
If you prefer to use external charging stations, this method is for you:
Budget allocation
A budget of 10.00c per kilometre will be set for charging at external facilities (i.e., not at your residence).
Reimbursement process
Submit receipts from point-of-sale for reimbursement of charging expenses. You can use the ORIX Novated Companion App (available on iOS and Android) or through OneView online at https://customer.orix.com.au/ to upload your receipts.
Note: Home charging expenses cannot be claimed under this method.
